Head of Department – Ian J Bates

Ian qualified as a solicitor in 1977 and is a member of the Personal Injury Panel and a Partner at Keith Park Solicitors.

A strong family man with varied outside interests which often finds him on the golf course and following his beloved Bolton Wanderers.

He trained at Chester College of Law and started his legal career at a Local Authority before moving to KPS in 1978. It was here that Ian developed his skills as a first rate Litigator specialising in all aspects of litiagtion particularly in the areas of professional negligence and personal injury.

He currently heads the professional negligence team at KPS which pursues claims of negligence, against Solicitors, Barristers, Financial Institutions, Architects and Surveyors and other professional organisations.

Ian's aim is to pursue the client's case as quickly as possible and to maximise the claims true potential, identifying critical issues at an early stage.

He is able to explore the virtues of cost benefit analysis at an early stage, which he regards as an essential obligation to ensure that risks are not taken.
