Every employer has a legal duty of care to provide a safe place of work, a safe plant and equipment and a safe system of work. If the employer breaches their duty of care and an employee (or self employed person) suffers an injury, a claim for compensation can be made. All employers, by law, must have insurance to cover them in respect of such claims.
